More than 600 communities in 90 municipalities and 7 departments of the country are the area of influence of our activity. We act on the basis of our social awareness and good neighbour policy, which includes safety and environmental awareness, clear communication on topics of mutual interest and joint participation in local development initiatives, valuing and respecting the functions and responsibilities of the different stakeholders involved in sustainable development.

To lead the implementation of the social management system we have a small social team of 5 Community Liaison Officers, with differentiated abilities and experience, including knowledge of the Quechua, Aymará and Guarani languages and cultures. They attend our neighbouring communities in each region according to their particular socio-cultural characteristics. They also support, advise and coordinate with development entities, municipal governments and the operational staff in each work site.

Our general social objective as a company is to: Generate a constructive and lasting relationship between the company and the other stakeholders involved in the places where we work.

Our specific social objectives are:

  • To avoid or minimize the potential negative impacts that our activity may generate in the populations that live close to our facilities.
  • To maximize the potential benefits of our activity for the neighbouring populations, within our possibilities and limitations as a company.

The “Good Neighbour” policy was developed by Transredes in the year 2001 and since then it has been gradually implemented and improved on the basis of internal and external feedback.

To apply this policy in the daily work of the company, the following community liaison programs are being executed, since this is basically a matter of behaviour, communication and institutional values.

Due to the dynamic nature of social matters, it is important to follow a process of continuous learning and adjustment. One of the ways of doing this is by participating in spaces of analysis and exchange of experiences on the social and environmental aspects of the activities of the hydrocarbons sector (e.g. workshops and national and international meetings promoted by different sectors). Another way of achieving this is by internally analyzing the results of the procedures and policies that are being applied.

Through these experiences, we hope to continue learning and improving our social performance as a company
