HEMP Engineering Principles

Under this principle and regarding Safety, within the Company we apply the scheme of “Loss Control” which sets limits among other things on preventative actions and control measures tending to avoid “Undesirable Events”.

Throughout TRANSREDES we have implemented an improved system of procedures for the Hazard and Effects Management Process (HEMP) designed to reduce risks and control hazards to as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP) levels. This system is applicable to each and every one of our activities.

IDENTIFY Are people, the environment or assets exposed to any potential damages?
EVALUATE EvaluateWhat are the causes? the consequences?
How probable is the loss of control?
What is the risk? ¿Is this at ALARP levels?
CONTOL Can the causes be eliminated?
What controls are necessary?
How effective are the controls??
RECOVER What recovery measures are necessary?
Are the recovery measures suitable and sufficient?

The actions that demonstrate the risks were managed and the control measures established. Furthermore, this was achieved using the HEMP method – the final tool of the “Hazards and Risk Matrix for Operative Safety” which analyzes each of the threats and establishes actions to be undertaken out to lessen undesirable events or minimize consequences.
