Children’s Home
He is the founder and has been the main driving
force for seven years in the “Teresa
de los Andes” Children’s Home
where dozens of handicapped children find
refuge and to whom he dedicates more than
18 hours a day of his life. His service is
based on his unbreakeable faith in God, and
his belief is that each and every human being
is the most important thing that there is
on this planet.

AIDA AVAROMA DE BARBA
Educator
During the last three years this teacher has
dedicated her days off to teaching and evangelizing
more than 300 children. Along with other volunteers,
she begins her day serving food to the children
and instructing them in hygiene, health and
good behavior in preventing delinquency.

PABLO REBOLLEDO
“Guardianes de la Noche” (Night
Angels) Program
Radio Host. He has started an initiative to
support security amongst our citizens through
his radio program “Guardianes de la
Noche,” broadcast throughout the night
to maintain contact with the night watchmen
and taxi drivers in our neighborhoods. He
has established an innovative system of surveillance
and looking out for the well-being of our
citizens.

Trainer
Youth Pastor for the Archidiaconate.A Social
Communicator and member of the Youth Pastoral
Group for the Archidiaconate for 11 years.
She helps in training and educating groups
of young people in our neighborhoods.

LEONARDA MOSUA NOCO
President, Indigenous Youth Association of
Beni (Trinidad)
Mother and wife. She was born on the shores
of the Mamoré River. Her activities
are dedicated to the native tribal women in
the Department of Beni, defending their rights,
culture, and heritage. Having received a scholarship,
she is now in her sixth semester studying
Law at the state university in the city of
Trinidad.

LUZ MARTINEZ
Facilitator for the P.A.N. Program, La Cuchilla
Neighborhood, Santa Cruz
Mother and grandmother. She is the driving
force behind the “Unión &
Progreso” School in her neighborhood.
She was inspired by her father who also was
a teacher. She dedicates her attention to
children and tries to help the youngsters
compensate for the lack of affection they
sometimes face. She has been promoting groups
of senior citizens since 1990, considering
that society gives these people the “gift
of their third age.”

BENITA RIVERA CARVAJAL
In Charge
of the
Underprivileged Children’s Dining Facilities,
Plan 3000 Neighborhood, Santa Cruz
Mother and wife. Every day she receives in
her dining facilities more than 250 dependent
children. The food is prepared by groups of
mothers who rotate weekly.

MARTHA LAZO SUAREZ
President, Artisan and Craftsmen Federation,
Santa Cruz
For 15 years her main endeavor has been to
create handicrafts. She participated in the
creation of an institution to support unemployed
artisans involved in their crafts in the more
distant provinces. This organization, through
community-based workshops, provides courses
in capacity building, organization and production.

DOMITILA CHUNGARA
Fighter and Writer
Born and raised in the mining centers in Bolivia.
She is the renowned author of the book Si
me Permiten Hablar [If You Would Let Me Talk],
translated into more than 15 languages. She
is a clear example of sacrifice and fighting
for social re-vindication amongst Bolivia’s
most needy. She holds dearly to the belief
that the difficult situation facing the majority
of Bolivians will change and improve. She
reaffirms that her strength and courage to
continue her fight, is precisely, the defense
of the people of Bolivia.

RUBEN DARIO SUAREZ
Director, Urubichá Art Institute
Musician and director of Urubichá,
a masterpiece that is being imitated by other
communities in the Department. He began his
work based on a vocation for service. He is
a father and teacher. Children from diverse
places follow the footsteps of the children
at Urubichá, who are assimilating his
teachings with humility and enviable discipline. |

VALDIVIA FAMILY
Musicians and Composers
These musicians create and interpret Bolivian
and Latin American music. The father and head
of the family explains that the goal to form
the group emerged from his wife’s and
children’s restlessness, all of whom
are fond of music. “More than anything,
we sing for our country.” he says while
indicating that the secret of the group’s
success is based on their closeness and the
understanding they all share.

This guitar player and concert musician has
been reaping success for nearly a decade through
his presentations and concert tours in countries
in all continents. He confesses that through
his art, he hopes to achieve communion with
himself, the world, and God. |

Architect
The director of the “Tanga Tanga”
Museum dedicated to complementing education
through games. He believes that with love
and care, it is possible to raise good children
and young entrepreneurs. |

DORA LUZ DAVILA
Director, DAVOSAN
Being a volunteer she offers joy, hope and
encouragement to the sick, especially to the
most needy. She fights for the recovery of
those who are on the edge, facing negative
and irreversible illnesses. |

FELIX POZO
Agricultural Engineer
He has been exercising his profession in Pando
for 30 years as a researcher for the industrialization
and exportation of Brazil nuts. Using this
field of endeavors he wants to make agribusiness
a way of life for the inhabitants of Pando
(Bolivia’s most remote Department),
and to help these families of producers to
become entrepreneurs.

NILO SORUCO
Master Musician and Composer
The creator of 45 “cuecas” (traditional
Bolivian music) and more than 250 school-children’s
songs. he is the director of the Regional
Municipal Pastor Acha School in the city of
Tarija. From here, and through young people,
he has assumed the responsibility of maintaining
the regional identity of the “Chapacos”
– people born in the Department of Tarija.

RAFAEL VIDAL
Communicator
The pioneer of radio broadcasting in Pando.
He is employed as a radio host in the city
of Cobija, capital of the Department of Pando.
His main duties are to inform, educate, and
entertain with radio broadcasts. He believes
that the border towns of the country, above
all should recover and support their own cultural
values. |

RAUL PANTOJA
Shoe Shine Man
President of the Shoe Shine Uniion in the
City of Tarija. He undertakes activities for
the poorest of children. In order to celebrate
special dates, he organizes more than 500
children in cultural, sports and other healthy
recreation activities. |

RUNY CALLAU
Commander, Search And Rescue (SAR) Group
He has participated in more than 200 rescue
missions. He sees value in people and that
is his motivation for working and contributing
in a service on behalf of the community and
society, where he gathers other youths who
also want to rescue people from disasters.
Through Christian education and training,
he prepares volunteers to have better performance
on their jobs.

WILSON MENDIETA
Journalist, writer and historian
Director of the “Casa de la Moneda”
Museum in the city of Potosí for several
years. He works in preserving the historical
heritage of Potosí and Bolivia so that
for posterity we will know the culture enclosed
in that enormous museum built over 500 years
ago. |
